New Upriver Press Book Coming Soon
If you hear the word “Princeton,” you probably think about that renowned university. That place where Einstein delivered some important lectures. That place where Upriver Press author and economist Markus Brunnermeier is a professor. That place where Dr. Peter Huang, another Upriver Press author, entered when he was fourteen years old.
What you probably don’t realize is that the town of Princeton has a remarkable history dating back to before the American Revolution. One reason you don’t know about the history of the town is that no historian has ever written a comprehensive history of this amazing town since 1879.
That is about to change. Historian Adrian Trevisan, a long-time resident of Princeton, has produced a wonderful book about the town’s history that elegantly and authoritatively fills the void. Upriver Press will be releasing the book this fall. It’s titled Princeton, New Jersey: A Prism for American History.
Why refer to the city as a prism? Trevisan shows that by discovering the history of Princeton, New Jersey we can explore the diverse spectrum of American history. By looking at the micro (the town’s history), we can see the macro (the country’s history) better.
We are eager to release this excellent book to the world, and we hope you’ll read it after we set it free. Stay tuned for more news about it next month, including by following us on BlueSky (@upriverpress.com) or on LinkedIn.
Upriver Press Gets a New Office
There is correlation between working environments, creativity, and human well-being. So, we moved our office to a historic building in downtown Colorado Springs. The office is small (keeping overhead low in a tough publishing industry), but it’s got a great vibe with a tall ceiling and a huge window. Built in 1908, the Exchange Building is beautifully preserved inside and out. It’s close to the US Olympic Committee headquarters, some fun pubs and coffee shops, and the town’s most iconic bookshop, Poor Richards.
University of Denver Publishing Institute
Earlier this month, Glenn continued his participation with the University of Denver Publishing Institute by sharing his experiences with starting and running a traditional book publishing company. Led by a talented team at the university, the Denver Publishing Institute has a remarkable history. For more than five decades, the institute has helped launch the careers of hundreds of book publishing professionals. This year’s class had about ninety students, showing that the book industry will continue to thrive.
Fun Fact
Did you know that Upriver Press books have been endorsed by five Nobel Prize-winning economists? Well, now you know.
